Ajda Stina Turek is a Slovenian jazz vocalist, a Performance graduate from Berklee College of Music in Boston. She is a winner of many Slovenian national voice competitions and was also the youngest finalist at Riga Jazz Stage 2014 in Latvia.
In March 2017, Ajda was the only vocalist receiving the Berklee “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist” award in recognition of her outstanding musicianship. She performed at different venues and festivals in Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Latvia, Italy, Norway, Boston, Maine, Washington D.C. and New York.
In March 2018 she released her socially oriented debut album “Sonder”, for which she wrote all the music and the lyrics, followed by a tour in Slovenia. One of the release concerts was streamed over different European radio stations for the International Jazz Day on April 30th.
In 2019, Ajda was featured on the compilation record of best jazz composers and performers of Slovenia “Jazz 2019”, and was also invited to perform at 60th Ljubljana Jazz Festival with Big Band RTV Slovenia as one of the eight best Slovenian young jazz musicians and composers, who live and create in NYC, where she moved to for her OPT.
In September 2019 she was the only recipient of “the most promising author and performer" award at the oldest and most important Slovenian music festival “Popevka 2019”.
This year Ajda and a jazz vibrafonist Vid Jamnik released their debut album "Rajska ptica", consisting of jazz standards, original tunes and covers of Slovenian evergreens.
Ajda studied and worked with many notable jazz vocalists, including Peter Eldridge, Sheila Jordan, Kevin Mahogany, Kurt Elling and is finishing her Master degree from Performance and Music Production at Berklee Valencia.
